Tooth decay breakthrough? new study tests fluoride gels to halt cavities in kids

NCT ID NCT07371117

First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests three different fluoride gels—silver diamine fluoride, sodium fluoride with CPP-ACP, and acidulated phosphate fluoride—to see which works best at stopping early childhood tooth decay. About 90 children with at least one untreated cavity will receive one of the gels. The goal is to harden the decayed area and prevent it from getting worse, offering a less invasive option than drilling.
