Blood protein levels may predict malnutrition in cancer patients
NCT ID NCT03240835
First seen May 11, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looked at whether measuring certain proteins in the blood (pre-albumin, retinol-binding protein, and transferrin) can help find malnutrition early in people with advanced nasopharyngeal cancer who are getting chemotherapy and radiation. The study included 60 adults aged 18 to 60 with newly diagnosed cancer. Researchers tracked changes in these proteins and body weight during treatment to see if they could monitor nutritional status.
