Major trial aims to stop heart disease before it starts

NCT ID NCT07232069

Summary

This study aims to prevent heart disease from getting worse in healthy adults who show early signs of cholesterol buildup (plaque) in their heart arteries. About 1,500 participants will be randomly assigned to take either two active medications (a cholesterol-lowering drug and an anti-inflammatory drug), one active drug and a placebo, or two placebos for two years. The goal is to see if these medications can reduce or stabilize the plaque when started very early, before symptoms appear.
