New PET scan technique may spot brain tumor return vs. radiation scarring
NCT ID NCT05762172
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested whether a new type of PET scan using F-DOPA dye can help doctors tell the difference between a brain tumor coming back and damage from radiation treatment. Eight adults with brain metastases who already needed a PET scan took part. The goal was to see if early images (within 4 minutes of injection) could clearly separate these two conditions, which look similar on standard MRI scans.
