Heart scan predicts chemo and radiation damage in breast cancer patients

NCT ID NCT04790266

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looked at whether special heart scans (CMR) can spot early signs of heart damage in 150 breast cancer patients treated with chemotherapy and radiation. The goal was to predict cardiotoxicity, defined as a significant drop in heart function within a year after treatment. Researchers measured heart muscle swelling and pumping strength to see if these scans could warn doctors early.
