Knee surgery study: when to remove the drain for best results?

NCT ID NCT07302724

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at 104 people having total knee replacement for severe knee arthritis. Researchers wanted to see if removing the surgical drain after starting gentle knee bending exercises (continuous passive motion) leads to less fluid buildup compared to removing it before those exercises. The goal is to find the best timing to reduce swelling and improve recovery.
