Could a single drug replace the standard triple therapy for rectal cancer?

NCT ID NCT05723562

First seen Nov 15, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether the immunotherapy drug dostarlimab alone can effectively treat people with a specific type of advanced rectal cancer (dMMR/MSI-H) that has not been treated before. About 154 participants will receive dostarlimab and be closely monitored. The goal is to see if the drug can make the cancer disappear completely and stay gone for at least 12 months, allowing patients to avoid chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.
