Phone-a-Doctor plan tested to fight antibiotic overuse

NCT ID NCT04848883

Summary

This study tested whether adding infectious disease specialists to primary care teams helps doctors prescribe antibiotics more appropriately. It involved six primary care centers and their adult patients with common respiratory or urinary infections. The goal was to see if giving doctors direct phone access to specialists would reduce overall antibiotic use and improve prescription quality.
