3-D skull models ease anxiety before jaw surgery, study finds

NCT ID NCT07394881

First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at whether showing patients a short animation or a 3-D model of the skull before jaw surgery helps reduce their worry. 30 adults scheduled for surgery were split into three groups: one got only standard information, another also watched a video, and the third also saw a 3-D skull model. Their anxiety was measured before the session and again right before surgery to see if the visual tools made a difference.
