Wrist access showdown: could a new artery route reduce heart procedure risks?
NCT ID NCT05490238
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study compares two ways to reach the heart's arteries during complex procedures like opening blocked vessels. It tests if using a smaller artery in the hand (distal radial) instead of the usual wrist artery (conventional radial) lowers the risk of artery blockage afterward. About 708 adults needing a large catheter for complex heart treatment will be randomly assigned to one method. The main goal is to see which approach causes fewer artery blockages and complications.
