First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding essential amino acids to a low-calorie, low-protein diet helps people with severe obesity lose more weight and maintain muscle mass. Sixty adults aged 45-65 with a BMI over 35 will be randomly assigned to receive either the amino acid supplement or a placebo for two weeks. Researchers will measure weight loss, muscle strength, and blood sugar and fat levels.
