ICU dialysis breakthrough? simple catheter solution tested in major trial
NCT ID NCT01962116
Summary
This study tested whether a citrate solution or a standard heparin solution works better to prevent blood clots from blocking dialysis catheters in intensive care patients with sudden kidney failure. Over 400 patients were randomly assigned to receive one of the two solutions in their catheter between dialysis sessions. The main goal was to see which solution kept the catheter working properly and free from complications for the longest time.
