Hydrogel with gene fragments could ease diabetic eye pain

NCT ID NCT07382453

First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests a special gel (hydrogel) loaded with tiny particles called exosomes that carry gene-regulating molecules. The gel is applied to the eye to see if it can improve nerve health, reduce dryness, and heal the eye surface in people with diabetes-related eye disease. About 30 adults with high blood sugar will receive the treatment and be monitored for changes in eye comfort and tissue health.
