Pilots with diabetes test smart glucose monitor for safer skies

NCT ID NCT04225455

First seen Dec 16, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a continuous glucose monitor (Dexcom G6) helps pilots with insulin-treated diabetes keep their blood sugar in a safe range while flying and in everyday life. Seventeen pilots wore the device for six months, comparing its readings with their usual finger-stick tests. The goal is to see if this technology can improve safety and glucose control for pilots.
