Skin specialist rounds cut hospital stays for cellulitis patients?
NCT ID NCT01706913
First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study looked at whether having a skin doctor (dermatologist) see patients within 24 hours of being admitted to the hospital for cellulitis (a skin infection) helps them get better faster. About 246 adults took part, and researchers compared those who got a dermatology consult to those who only saw their regular hospital doctor. The goal was to see if the consult could shorten hospital stays, lower the chance of coming back, reduce antibiotic use, and save money.
