Ballet Dancers' teeth: new ceramic filling outperforms standard composite
NCT ID NCT07598305
First seen May 21, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested two dental filling materials in 20 professional ballet dancers with tooth decay or wear near the gum line. One group received a ceramic-like material (PICN) and the other a self-hardening composite. After 24 months, none of the ceramic fillings failed, while 20-30% of the composite fillings did. The ceramic material also showed less dye leakage in certain defects. The findings suggest ceramic fillings may be a better choice for dancers, who put high stress on their teeth.
