New brain stimulation approach shows promise for depression relief

Summary

This study tested a new way of using deep transcranial magnetic stimulation (Deep TMS) to treat major depression. 104 adults received either the new or standard stimulation protocol. The goal was to see if the new method is as safe and effective at reducing depression symptoms over 6 weeks.
