Brain scans reveal how Parkinson's treatment alters thinking and driving

NCT ID NCT02795663

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study looked at how deep brain stimulation (DBS) changes brain activity in people with Parkinson's disease while they performed driving and impulse-control tasks. Fifteen participants had their brain blood flow measured with a special light-based imaging technique, both with their DBS device turned on and off. The goal was to understand how DBS affects brain function during everyday activities, not to test a new treatment.
