New drug could protect divers from the bends
NCT ID NCT06216366
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tests whether an experimental drug called rhu-pGSN can reduce harmful inflammation caused by decompression sickness (the bends) in divers. Thirty-six healthy, trained divers will be exposed to high pressure in a hyperbaric chamber, then given either the drug or a placebo before or after the exposure. Researchers will measure inflammatory markers in the blood and check for gas bubbles to see if the drug helps control the body's response.
