Brain zap trial aims to stop Parkinson's patients from falling

NCT ID NCT04223427

Summary

This study tested whether a more precise type of deep brain stimulation (DBS) could help with walking and balance problems in people with Parkinson's disease. Researchers worked with 19 patients who already had DBS implants to see if adjusting the electrical field could reduce freezing of gait and improve stability. The goal was to find better settings to help patients walk more safely.
