DASH diet may reshape gut bacteria to lower cancer risk

NCT ID NCT04538482

First seen Feb 10, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at how the DASH diet (a heart-healthy eating plan) changes gut bacteria compared to a typical American diet. About 115 Black and White adults in Alabama will eat provided meals for 28 days. Researchers will test stool samples to see if the DASH diet increases helpful gut bacteria and reduces inflammation, which could lower the risk of diseases like colorectal cancer.
