Diabetes drug trial aims to strengthen failing hearts

NCT ID NCT07403955

Summary

This study is testing whether dapagliflozin, a medication originally for diabetes, can help improve heart muscle function in people hospitalized with acute heart failure. Researchers will enroll 188 patients and use special heart ultrasound imaging to measure changes in how well the heart squeezes and relaxes. Participants will take the medication daily for three months while researchers track heart function improvements and hospital readmission rates.
