Blood tests may reveal why some back pain treatments work better

NCT ID NCT06545812

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at how levels of certain inflammation-related proteins in the blood change when people with a herniated disc in the lower back receive either physical therapy or a steroid injection. Researchers will measure these proteins before treatment, two weeks later, and three months later, and also track pain and quality of life. The goal is to see if these blood markers are linked to how well each treatment works. About 128 adults aged 18-70 with recent back pain are being recruited.
