New catheter maps Heart's 'Hot Spots' to stop stubborn AFib

NCT ID NCT06960252

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study is testing a new catheter called OPTRELL to better locate the heart areas causing long-lasting atrial fibrillation (AF). Researchers will map the heart's electrical signals during AF and use that information to guide targeted ablation. The goal is to see if this approach reduces the return of abnormal heart rhythms better than standard treatment. About 80 adults with persistent AF who have not responded to medication will take part.
