Custom inserts aim to ease stubborn foot pain

NCT ID NCT06962475

First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests whether custom foot orthoses (shoe inserts) with a special wedge and pad can reduce pain and improve walking in people with chronic metatarsalgia, a condition causing long-term foot pain. Sixty-four adults with at least 3 months of foot pain will receive either custom inserts or fake (sham) inserts and be followed for 12 weeks. The goal is to see if the custom inserts provide better pain relief and foot function than the sham devices.
