New monitoring method may ease sore throats after surgery
NCT ID NCT07485972
First seen Apr 13, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study looked at whether continuously monitoring the pressure of the breathing tube during laparoscopic surgery can reduce throat pain and other airway problems after the operation. 95 adults having abdominal surgery were randomly assigned to one of three pressure-checking methods. The goal was to see if constant monitoring leads to fewer complications like sore throat, cough, or hoarseness compared to checking pressure every 30 minutes or using a standard leak test.
