Blood test may spot hidden HPV cancers before symptoms show

NCT ID NCT03739775

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 36 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a simple blood test that finds tiny bits of tumor DNA (ctDNA) can detect the return of HPV-positive pelvic cancers (like cervical or anal cancer) earlier than usual scans or exams. About 172 people who have already been treated for these cancers and are currently cancer-free will give blood samples. Researchers will check if a high level of ctDNA in the blood can predict a relapse within the next 6 months.
