Heart scan clues may predict future attacks
NCT ID NCT07212751
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at CT scans of the heart from 22,000 people who had chest pain. Researchers want to see if certain features of plaque (fatty deposits) in the heart arteries can help predict who will later have a heart attack, stroke, or die from heart disease. The goal is to improve how doctors use CT scans to guide treatment decisions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could help doctors better predict heart attacks and strokes using CT scans, leading to more personalized treatment.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study using past data, so it cannot prove cause and effect. Results may not apply to all patients.
