Novartis tests new drug to stop severe diarrhea from parasite infection

NCT ID NCT07249463

Summary

This study is testing whether a new drug called EDI048 can reduce diarrhea and other symptoms caused by a stomach parasite called Cryptosporidium. Healthy adult volunteers will be intentionally given the parasite to cause illness, then receive either EDI048 or a placebo to see which works better. The goal is to see if the drug helps people feel better faster, with the hope of eventually using it to help children who get this infection.
