Cold before the needle: new study aims to ease scar injection pain

NCT ID NCT07336368

First seen Jan 26, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests if applying a brief cold spray to keloid or hypertrophic scars right before a steroid injection can reduce pain and make the injection easier. About 30 adults will have each scar split in half—one side gets cold therapy plus the shot, the other gets the shot alone. Participants and doctors will rate pain and resistance to see if the cold helps.
