First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tested whether applying ice packs (cryotherapy) after removing impacted wisdom teeth helps with pain, swelling, and recovery. Twenty people had both lower wisdom teeth taken out in one visit; one side got ice packs, the other did not. The side with ice packs had less pain, shorter pain duration, and needed fewer rescue painkillers.
