New device may help seniors with cochlear implants hear in crowded rooms

Summary

This study tested a device that sends sound from the non-hearing ear to a cochlear implant in the other ear. 16 older adults with one cochlear implant used the device to see if it improved their speech understanding in noisy settings. The goal was to also see if it improved quality of life for them and their frequent communication partners.
