Scientists hunt for clues in COVID-19 Survivors' immune cells

NCT ID NCT04565067

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study aims to understand why COVID-19 is more dangerous for older adults by looking at specific immune cells called CD8 T cells. Researchers will study blood, urine, and saliva samples from 83 adults in Maryland who have recovered from COVID-19. The goal is to learn how these cells change with age and how they respond to the virus, which could help in developing better vaccines for the elderly.
