New counseling approach aims to keep opioid patients in treatment and cut drug harm

Summary
This study tests a program called CHaRRM-CN designed to help people with opioid use disorder stay in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and reduce harm from drug use. About 136 adults from the Cherokee Nation who are new to MAT will either receive the program or standard care for 6 months. Researchers will compare how many stay in treatment, their drug-related problems, and their connection to Native culture.
