New cord blood treatment shows promise for tough blood cancers

NCT ID NCT03913026

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests a special cord blood transplant (called UM171-expanded) in 30 people with high-risk leukemia or myelodysplasia. The goal is to see if this method lowers the chance of death from the transplant and helps patients live longer without the cancer coming back. Early results suggest it may be safer and more effective than standard cord blood transplants.
