Summary
This study tested a new method to grow more stem cells from a single cord blood unit before transplant in children and young adults (under 21) with high-risk blood cancers like leukemia. The goal was to help the body recover faster and reduce serious side effects such as infections and graft-versus-host disease. Thirteen patients were enrolled, and the approach aims to make cord blood transplants safer and more accessible.
