Smartwatch study tests if painting roofs white can save lives in heatwaves
NCT ID NCT06579963
Summary
This study is testing whether applying a special sunlight-reflecting coating to roofs can help protect people from extreme heat. Researchers are using smartwatches to measure if these 'cool roofs' improve heart rate, sleep quality, and physical activity for 800 residents in four hot global locations. The goal is to find simple, low-cost ways to help communities, especially in vulnerable housing, adapt to rising temperatures from climate change.
