Pelvic prolapse surgery showdown: which approach causes less leakage?

NCT ID NCT03200327

First seen Dec 04, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study compared two surgical techniques for treating pelvic organ prolapse (when organs slip out of place in the pelvis). The goal was to see if a newer vaginal approach causes less accidental urine leakage after surgery than the standard laparoscopic method. The study planned to include 55 women aged 50-80 with moderate to severe prolapse, but it was terminated early, so results are limited.
