New PET tracer aims to sharpen prostate cancer detection
NCT ID NCT05324332
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study compares a new radioactive tracer, 68Ga-P16-093, with the standard tracer 68Ga-PSMA-11 for PET/CT imaging in 50 men with untreated prostate cancer. The goal is to see which tracer better detects tumors and their spread. Participants will receive both tracers within a week, and the number of tumors detected will be compared.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- 68Ga-P16-093 and 68Ga-PSMA-11 (radioactive tracers for PET imaging)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to a more accurate imaging method for detecting prostate cancer and its spread.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early pilot study with only 50 participants. The new tracer may not prove better than the existing one, and results may not apply to all patients.
