New study tests safer ways to drain bile in advanced cancer patients

Summary
This study compares two minimally invasive procedures to relieve bile duct blockage in patients with incurable pancreatic or bile duct cancer. The goal is to see which method—draining the gallbladder or the bile duct directly into the digestive system—is safer and works better to reduce jaundice. About 128 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two procedures and followed for complications and how long the drainage lasts.
