Prostate cancer patients to get gentler radiation options in new trial

NCT ID NCT07210502

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study compares the side effects of two radiation treatments for men with low-to-intermediate risk prostate cancer: brachytherapy (radioactive seeds placed in the prostate) and stereotactic radiotherapy (focused external beams over 5 sessions). Both treatments use a protective gel to shield the rectum. About 220 men will be randomly assigned to one treatment and followed for 5 years to see which causes fewer urinary, bowel, and sexual side effects.
