New PET tracer shows promise for spotting myeloma bone lesions
NCT ID NCT03891914
First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether a newer PET scan tracer (18F-choline) can find more myeloma bone lesions than the standard tracer (18F-FDG) in 20 newly diagnosed patients. Each participant received both PET scans and an MRI within three weeks. The goal was to see if the choline tracer could improve detection, especially in areas like the skull and spine where standard scans often miss lesions.
