New targeted therapy combo challenges chemo for CLL patients
NCT ID NCT04010968
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested whether a combination of two targeted drugs (venetoclax and ibrutinib) works better than standard chemotherapy (FCR) for people with intermediate-risk chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). About 120 fit adults who had not been treated before took part. The goal was to see if the new drug combo could clear the cancer more effectively, with treatment stopping once a very low level of disease was reached.
