Blood filter showdown: which method clears Kidney-Attacking antibodies faster?
NCT ID NCT03635385
First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looked at two ways to quickly remove harmful antibodies from the blood in people with severe kidney failure caused by vasculitis or anti-GBM disease. One method, plasma exchange, replaces the liquid part of blood; the other, immunoadsorption, filters out only the antibodies. Researchers compared how fast each method lowered antibody levels in 40 adults. The goal was to see if one works better, but the study was small and only gathered data, not a final treatment recommendation.
