Villagers vs. diabetes: can a phone app and local helpers beat the clinic?
NCT ID NCT05743387
Summary
This study is testing a new way to manage type 2 diabetes in remote villages in Lesotho. It will see if local, trained community health workers, supported by a smartphone app, can safely provide basic diabetes care and medication. This is being compared to the usual method of sending people to a health clinic after diagnosis. The goal is to find a more accessible and effective way to control diabetes in areas with few doctors.
