First seen May 18, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested community programs to help African American mothers in Mississippi keep breastfeeding for up to a year. The programs included workplace support for nursing moms and education for families and daycare centers. Researchers tracked how long mothers breastfed and checked infant health and growth at 3, 6, and 12 months. The goal was to find ways to raise low breastfeeding rates in this community.
