New hope for liver cancer: immunotherapy and radiation before surgery shows promise

NCT ID NCT07075120

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests a new approach for people with locally advanced liver cancer that is hard to remove with surgery alone. Participants will receive two immunotherapy drugs (ipilimumab and nivolumab) along with targeted radiation, followed by surgery if the tumor shrinks enough. The goal is to see if this combination is safe and can help more patients become eligible for curative surgery, especially in Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities who are often underrepresented in research.
