New hope for colon cancer: ctDNA-Guided treatment aims to prevent relapse

NCT ID NCT05062889

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study is for people with stage II or III colon cancer who are at high risk of the cancer coming back after surgery. Researchers are testing whether stronger chemotherapy (FOLFOXIRI) followed by an extra drug (Trifluridine/Tipiracil) can make cancer DNA in the blood disappear, which may lower the chance of relapse. The study also includes a special group for patients with HER2-positive cancer who will receive targeted therapy. The goal is to see if these treatments improve outcomes without causing too many side effects.
