Goal-Setting may curb risky drinking in college students

NCT ID NCT07156305

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study looks at whether helping college students set personal goals for using protective strategies—like pacing drinks or eating before drinking—can reduce alcohol-related harm. About 300 students aged 18-25 who drink at least once a week will be split into three groups: one gets basic information, another picks strategies to try, and the third also sets specific goals for those strategies. Researchers will track changes in drinking habits, negative consequences, and positive experiences over two weeks.
