New danish model aims to ease depression care in general practice
NCT ID NCT03113201
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested a collaborative care model for people with depression in general practice. 389 Danish-speaking adults with depression were randomly assigned to either collaborative care (involving a care manager and stepped treatments like therapy and medication) or standard consultation-liaison. The goal was to see if the collaborative approach better reduces depression symptoms and improves quality of life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- collaborative care (behavioral intervention)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this model could offer a more effective way to manage depression in primary care, reducing symptoms and improving well-being without the need for specialist referrals.
- What could go wrong
- This is a completed trial with 389 participants, so results are available but may not apply to all populations. The intervention is behavioral, so benefits depend on implementation and patient engagement.
